Marc Charrier was raised in Westville, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. He is a graduate of Acadia (BA in History) and performed post-grad work at Dalhousie University. He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick, during which time he was the recipient of various scholarships and bursaries, acted as a member of the UNB Law Journal Editorial staff, and also worked as a research assistant. He studied towards a Masters in Law at Osgoode Hall, where he taught legal research and writing and coordinated the computer orientation programme for incoming students.
Marc began practising law in Ontario in 2006, with an emphasis in family law, child protection law, immigration and refugee law, and general litigation. He has appeared before various courts and tribunals, including the Federal Court, Human Rights tribunals, and labour boards.
Marc is proud of his Acadian roots, and is functional in French and American Sign Language.
